Police say a Department of Education employee and a Bronx man have been charged with murder in connection to the fatal shooting a Bronx father and injuring his brother in Kingsbridge.
DOE employee Naya Brown, 26, and Pernell Warren, 27, are accused of killing 44-year-old Keon Gill on Jan. 25 at West 242nd Street and Broadway. Gill's family told News 12 he was
celebrating his birthday at a local bar the night of his death.
Gill attended the party with his brother, Luis, and a few friends, his family says.
After the party ended just before 3 a.m., police say shots rang out, fatally striking Gill in the chest and his 35-year-old brother in the leg.
His brother is expected to recover, according to authorities.
Gill is survived by his four children.
"His world was his kids. They were his life," said Mahogany, the mother of his children.
Police say Pernell faces additional charges, including manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
