The NYC Department of Buildings is busy inspecting rides in Coney Island ahead of the summer season.
The Elevator Unit is charged with inspecting the more than 50 rides along the boardwalk in Luna Park and Deno's Wonder Wheel.
"It's a fun time of year for me, because it's safety for kids," said DOB Assistant Chief Craig Gualtieri.
Gualtieri said inspections can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days depending on the ride.
"Seatbelts, the nuts, the motors, the belts, so everything that is on the ride we have to look at," he said.
The inspections come after one of the boardwalks most iconic rides stalled midride last summer.
The Cyclone was
closed for two weeks before reopening to the public.
This year Luna park will open for the season on March 29 and Deno's Wonder Wheel Amusement Park opens April 12.
