A South Brunswick police car was struck by a distracted truck driver on Route 1 along the north border of Plainsboro.

The crash occurred at 2:41 a.m. on Saturday when the police officer was working a construction detail along the highway.

The tractor-trailer driver was distracted and struck the message board warning of the construction and the side of the police car.

Police say the officer is OK.

It was not immediately clear if the driver received a summons.
