The NYPD has identified two men wanted in connection with the stabbing and robbery of off-duty NYPD Detective Jose Mercedes in Norwood on Oct. 2.

Police say 25-year-old D’Angelo Caraballo and 24-year-old Sneider Mejia are wanted on charges of attempted murder, robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.

Investigators say the men approached Mercedes on a motorized bike near Rochambeau Avenue and East 208th Street Friday afternoon, stabbed and slashed him multiple times and stole a chain from his neck before fleeing.

The Department of Homeland Security says both suspects are from the Dominican Republic and are in the country illegally.

DHS also says both have prior arrests in New York, including weapon possession charges.

Mercedes was released from Jacobi Hospital Monday and is recovering at home.

Caraballo and Mejia remain at large.
