The victims have been identified as 17-year-old Alina Toone and her 15-year-old brother, Jeremiah.
A growing memorial now sits outside their home on Sherwood Road, where neighbors have gathered to remember the siblings.
“They’re a good family… it’s just devastating what happened here,” said neighbor Jean Guardino. “No mother or father deserves that.”
Lake Mohegan Fire Chief Thomas Eade discusses the emotional toll of the fire on the community and firefighters
The fire broke out around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Officials say four people were inside the home at the time.
Police say both teenagers later died from their injuries at the hospital. The mother remains hospitalized and the older brother has been discharged.
Lake Mohegan Fire Chief Thomas Eade says the cause was an electrical failure, likely from a power strip in the home.

Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins says the siblings’ father, Gregory Toone, is a county correction officer and was not home at the time.
“Yesterday, an unimaginable tragedy occurred as a fire ripped through the home of one of our most dedicated correction officers, Gregory Toone, who has served our county with honor for a decade. The fire claimed the lives of his two beautiful teenage children, who were asleep in their beds. Our hearts are broken and our entire correction family is mourning the loss of correction officer Toone’s children. We also continue to pray for correction officer Toone’s beloved wife, who remains in serious condition in the hospital. In times of tragedy, our union has always pulled together to support one another, but now we are calling upon all Westchester County residents to rally behind correction officer Toone by donating whatever they can to the GoFundMe page created on behalf of the Toone family," said a statement from Steven Torsiello, president of the Westchester County Correction Officers' Benevolent Association.
On top of the GoFundMe, Yorktown Love in Action is collecting monetary donations that they say will all go directly to the family.
"We are looking for gift cards. Basically, any restaurant or any retail or monetary donations. This way, it gives family flexibility to use the money how they really need it," says Damian Carparelli on behalf of Yorktown Love in Action.
People can drop off the donations at the organization's address: 1736 Front Street in Yorktown Heights.
The founder of the organization says they are here to help the family in the wake of this tragedy.
"I don't even know where they're staying right now. I would be more than willing to put them up in a hotel for a month," says Yorktown Love in Action founder Donna Simone.
