The Department for Environmental Protection says a leaking fire hydrant was to blame for an incident in Mount Hope on Sunday.
It was initially believed that there was a water main break near 174th and Clay avenues.
Residents in the area said they saw gushing water that created a river in the neighborhood.
One resident News 12 spoke to said his water was shut down for five hours.
Resident Christopher Shoulders said they couldn't use the bathroom or take a shower due to the water leak.
People were also seen walking on the street so their feet wouldn’t get wet.
