A deer fell from a Garden State Parkway overpass Tuesday, landing on a vehicle traveling on a Paramus roadway below. The incident happened just after 7 p.m. Police Chief Robert Guidetti said officers responded to reports of a motor vehicle crash on Paramus Road, just below the parkway overpass. When they arrived, they found that a deer had fallen from the roadway above and struck a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The driver of the vehicle, a 44-year-old woman from Hackensack, was traveling in the right lane when the deer dropped from above, according to police. “As a result of the impact, the vehicle sustained significant damage, causing the driver’s side door frame to become impinged and trapping the driver inside the vehicle,” Guidetti said. With the help of Officer Joseph Mastrofilipo, the driver was able to climb out of the vehicle. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to be OK. The deer was found dead at the scene following the fall. Guidetti said there were no other vehicles involved.
