Police in Hamilton are asking for the public's help after a dead dog was found near a creek.

The discovery was made Monday.

Authorities say the dog did not have a collar or identification tags.

Animal control officers removed the dog, which is believed to be a pit bull.

Police say investigators found evidence at the scene that could help identify the person responsible for abandoning the animal.
