The second day of the Paul Caneiro murder trial took place on Tuesday and featured a key piece of evidence by prosecutors.

In a phone call made about eight hours before the murders, Keith argued with Paul, wanting to know what happened to the $77,000 missing from his life insurance trust account.

“Get on the computer and tell me where the money went. Paul, do it. I need to know where the money went,” said Keith in that call made just added 6 p.m. on Nov. 19, 2018.

From security video, you can hear Keith growing frustrated with his brother and business partner Paul once he learns money is missing.

“Paul I'm telling you I need it. I need it. I need it. Give me the F—--- login Paul,” he says.

Earlier, MCPO Detective Debbie Bassinder told the jury about Paul's finances leading up to the events of Nov. 20, 2018. Prosecutors say Paul killed Keith and his family as his allegedly stealing ways were being discovered by Keith. Assistant Prosecutor Nicole Wallace said Paul's “house of cards was about to fall” by living above his means and using business money for personal reasons.

“The defendant had three Porsche leases and in 2017, those lease payments totaled $39,846.51,” said Bassinder.

Bassinder showed how prosecutors said money was being moved from business accounts to Paul's personal bank accounts instead of into a trust.

Defense attorneys say the calls capture only half the conversation and attempted to characterize Keith as emotional and high strung.

“You did not know Keith Caneiro personally, right? No,” replied Bassinder when questioned by the defense.

The trial will continue at 8:30 a.m. Paul Caneiro faces life in prison if found guilty.
