Sustained winds of 20-30 mph are expected with the potential for gusts towards 60 mph.
Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
High Wind Warning For Western Ulster County
From 7 p.m. until 8 a.m. Thursday
Sustained winds of 15-25 MPH are expected with the potential for gusts towards 60 mph.
Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
A mild temperature trend is moving into the Hudson Valley through the day today with highs getting up towards the upper 50s to low 60s. The average high is 56 degrees for this time of the year.
A cold front will be approaching the Northeast, with winds picking up ahead of it and even more so behind it, as it brings a brief window of gusty downpours to the area.
Winds will increase up to 30 mph sustained but could gusts up to 60 mph later tonight and into Thursday morning. The entire region is under one of three types of wind alerts.
The shower timeframe is roughly 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Along with the passing showers could be a gusty downpour.
Gusts will be high overnight into Thursday morning but will back down gradually through the day. There will also be a more noticeable chill in the air.
Another round of rain and then wind is possible Friday night into Saturday morning.
And another rain chance is starting to become more likely for Sunday afternoon into Monday morning.
