A former Suffolk County employee has pleaded guilty to taking cash bribes for falsifying paperwork, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said Wednesday.
Brianna Hassett, of Wading River, used her job at the Department of Labor, Licensing and Consumer Affairs office to push through fake license applications in exchange for money, Tierney said.
The 33-year-old was caught by an undercover police officer who provided information for a non-existent business.
According to the DA's investigation, Hassett was working as an office assistance in late Jan. 2025 when, working together with her husband, took a bribe and falsified an application for a home improvement license.
Her and her husband, Esteban Bermudez, were arrested on Feb. 13, 2025.
They are expected to be sentenced on May 27, 2026.
