An on-duty Customers and Border Protection officer fired a gun following a car crash on the Van Wyck Expressway near John F. Kennedey International Airport, sources inside the Port Authority confirm.
The incident happened around 4:45 a.m.
The officer said a driver assaulted him after the crash and he fired his gun multiple times, the News 12 source said.
News 12 has been told the driver was not on the scene when police arrived.
The investigation sparked delays and detours in the area.
