First responders are on the scene of a large mulch fire in Brentwood. Suffolk County Fire officials said the initial call came just after 5:30 this morning. The fire is at 1182 Suffolk Ave., which appears to be a business that sells mulch and other materials, that runs parallel to the Long Island Rail Road. The MTA says there are delays and trains are being held at platforms in both directions along the Ronkonkoma Branch due to fire department activity east of Brentwood. The 6 a.m. train to Ronkonkoma from Grand Central is being held at Central Islip, the 6:07 train from Ronkonkoma to Penn Station is being held at Ronkonkoma, the 6:27 a.m. train from Penn Station to Ronkonkoma is being held prior to departure and the 5:16 a.m. train from Penn Station to Ronkonkoma is being held at Wyandanch. Officials said three departments are responding. No injuries have been reported.
