Firefighters from multiple towns battled a three-alarm fire at a warehouse in Franklin Township Friday morning.

Crews responded to the scene on Belmont Drive around 4 a.m. as heavy smoke filled the building. Franklin Township firefighters requested mutual aid from surrounding towns to help bring the fire under control.

Ladders and hose lines extended to the top of the warehouse as crews worked at the scene. An EMS rehab unit was also requested to assist firefighters as they exited the building.

The warehouse is located just off School House Road between Elizabeth Avenue and Belmont Drive. There are multiple businesses in the area that remain open, but roadblocks and detours have police routing drivers away from the fire scene.

It is unclear whether anyone was inside the warehouse when the fire broke out or if there were any injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
