The emergency room at Northwell Glen Cove Hospital is temporarily shuttered following a fire there earlier today.
Nassau Assistant Chief Fire Marshall James Hickman said that the fire was first discovered in the roof area around 11:05 a.m. Crews got it under control in under an hour.
He said the emergency room was evacuated. Representatives from the hospital expect it to reopen in about eight hours.
No injuries or evacuations were reported. Seven patients were removed out of the ER area.
The cause of the fire is unclear.
This comes just one month after a generator exhaust pipe overheated and led to insulation catching fire in the basement.
