A man and his wife were critically injured during a rollover crash Friday morning in Red Hook.
Police say a Ford driven by a 75-year-old man veered off the road, struck a rock wall and then hit another vehicle around 11 a.m. on South Broadway.
The impact made the Ford go airborne and roll onto its roof. Fire crews and EMS arrived at the scene and helped remove the driver and his wife.
The engine also caught fire as a result of the crash. Responders extinguished the flames in less than two minutes.
A preliminary investigation determined that the driver likely suffered a medical emergency at the time of accident.
Police say the couple was taken to MidHudson Regional Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the other vehicle involved was also transported to Northern Dutchess Hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
South Broadway remained closed for just over an hour for the investigation.
