Connecticut's 2025 Kid Governor was announced Wednesday at the winner's elementary school in Waterbury.
Keudy Martinez, a resident of Waterbury, is a fifth grade student and was elected by over 10,000 fifth graders from 160 schools across the state. He ran against six other candidates.
Martinez ran on a three-point platform of helping to stop bullying, supporting mental health awareness and promoting a buddy system so no one feels alone.
"I'm excited to take action on these issues and make a difference for all students across Connecticut," said Marinez. "Thank you again for trusting me with this role, and I can't wait to get started."
Keudy's inauguration will be in January at the Old State House in Hartford.
