Luna Park is getting ready to roar back to life, with opening day signaling the return of summer along the iconic Coney Island boardwalk.
For nearby residents, the excitement is already building.
“Summertime is around the corner and the beach is going to be opening,” said Jeanique Turner. “I’m actually excited because this was a dream for me to live right next to Coney Island Park, so Luna Park is probably like one of my favorite parks.”
This season also marks a major moment for Alessandro Zamperla, president and CEO of Central Amusement International. The park is launching into a new season with added attractions, including five new midway games, refreshed experiences and high-speed rides - all while celebrating the Cyclone rollercoaster’s 99th birthday.
“Spring is in the air,” Zamperla said. “We have a new arcade, retail, food and beverage offerings, and we will be offering to the first 99 riders a free ride and an egg cream shot.”
Guests can once again enjoy free admission, with ride tickets starting at just $4. Discounted Luna Boardwalk passes will also be available, with proceeds benefiting local organizations, including the Coney Island Sharks, Children of Promise, and the Coney Island Library.
“You have fun and you do good, while again, you enjoy a great time together with family and friends,” Zamperla added.
Longtime visitor Saida Aliyeva says the park’s reopening is something she looks forward to every year.
“Luna Park opening will be really exciting to come here with friends and have a good time at the beach,” she said. “You definitely have to ride the Cyclone and the Thunderbolt. Those two are must-have roller coasters. Can’t get them anywhere else!”
With a blend of new attractions, classic rides, and community impact, Luna Park is set to usher in another lively season at Coney Island.
