The future of a proposed casino in Coney Island is on the line as a final public hearing is happening Wednesday night.
The developers behind The Coney announced hours before the meeting that they would donate $10 million in private construction funds to help build a ferry dock on the boardwalk if the project is approved.
Supporters say the casino would create jobs, attract tourists and boost local businesses. But opponents argue it would increase traffic, crime and strain neighborhood infrastructure.
Residents on both sides of the debate are making their voices heard before the state decides who will receive one of three downstate casino licenses.
A final decision is expected sometime next year.
