One Long Island educator is second in the running for America’s Favorite Teacher.

Melissa McMullan teaches 6th grade at JFK Middle School in the Comsewogue School District.

McMullan says she “simply loves the challenge every day of determining what each of my students needs from me, and figuring out how to provide it."

You can cast your vote for Melissa in the quarterfinals until Thursday at 7 p.m.

One outstanding teacher will win $25,000, a trip to Hawaii, an appearance in Readers Digest and a school assembly with Bill Nye.

Melissa’s Port Jefferson Station students would decide how the money can best be allocated to best support their community.
