FORECAST:
A chilly and breezy day is expected today with highs in the mid-40s. The winds will be 20-25 mph throughout the afternoon. Clouds build in the middle of the day ahead of an approaching storm that mostly impacts central and southern New Jersey.
The northern fringe of this system clips passed the northern counties where a light coating of snow is likely overnight along I-80.
The timing of the passing weather system and the elevation combined allow temperatures to be cold enough to support a light snowfall.
Up to an inch of snow can be on colder surfaces by morning, whereas most of the roads will be wet and slippery in the NW counties, especially Morris county. It will likely be a cold rain for the NE corner.
The rain/snow will wrap up sooner in the northern areas and linger until about 10 a.m. at the coastal areas before moving away.
Wednesday will be mostly cloudy and chilly with highs in the lower 40s.
Thursday is not bad with a mix of sun and clouds.
Cool temperatures are expected to end the week. Rain showers return overnight Friday into Saturday.
