New Long Island location aims to connect potential recruits with Coast Guard career opportunities and increase visibility across the region.
The U.S. Coast Guard has expanded its recruiting presence on Long Island with the opening of a new recruiting office in Lynbrook.
The new location gives potential recruits a place on Long Island to meet directly with Coast Guard personnel, ask questions about service and learn more about career opportunities.
Chief Cory Green, the recruiter in charge of the Long Island office, said the Coast Guard has already seen strong interest from the area, with hundreds of Long Islanders applying and some already heading to boot camp.
"There are a lot of talented young men and women out here that have that desire to serve that know about the Coast Guard and had to drive into the city to do it or they don't know about the Coast Guard and we didn't have visibility out here. This office is about bringing visibility and tapping into talent here in the Long Island region."
The new recruiting office is located at 235 Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook.
The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
