The New York City Emergency Management Department has issued a travel advisory starting at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. The city warns drivers could face heavy rain, strong winds, and flooded roadways. As Mother Nature brings a set of challenges, drivers are faced with another dilemma. Many forced to think twice before pumping gas as the prices continue to increase. According to AAA, this week’s average for a gallon of gas is $4.23, nearly 10 cents higher than last week’s average of $4.16. The current price is well over a dollar from last year’s average price of $3.16. For those that have to get on the road, the city says it’s best to practice safe driving and patience. Officials say take it slow, give yourself extra time, keep a safe distance from other vehicles, and don’t drive through a flooded street or underpass. The city's travel advisory will remain in effect until 8 a.m. on Wednesday.
