The New York City Department of Transportation announced that the Citi Bike program will be expanding into the northwest Bronx in the fall.
Officials are specifically targeting areas in Riverdale and Norwood and are asking for suggestions from residents on where to put the stations.
Many people in Riverdale suggested the area near Manhattan College, which has the large student population, while also being close to a lot of businesses and Van Cortlandt Park.
In Norwood meanwhile, people pointed out the Williamsbridge Oval would be greatly helped.
The large park is almost impossible to park near, and the closest Citi Bike station is about a quarter mile away.
Neighbors says even if they normally walk to the park, they would use the bikes in other parts of their life, with one explaining, "sometimes late at night, or in certain places, it's just like harder for the subways to get out here, so it would make it easy."
Another person who lives nearby told News 12 "people like me, we can't afford vehicles like that, and sometimes we need to have other ways to get around, I would love a Citi Bike."
