Mike Murphy has been putting on this incredible show for 13 years. He says he really got started by helping his mom out with lights as a kid. But now his house benefits the Marty Lyons Foundation to help grant wishes to kids suffering from life threatening illnesses. The Marty Lyons Foundation reached out to me about three years ago and uh I, you know, I learned a little bit about the organization and it really didn't take much convincing. It's a great organization and I'm, I'm happy to be working with them for a list of holiday homes across Long Island. Just head to News twelve.com. An East Northport teenager is giving back this holiday season with a holiday light show news trials. Logan Crawford is outside the home on Oxo Court tonight. Oh my gosh, Logan, what a display, right? Ta just look at this enormous display here. We spoke with the teenager who says he built this all by himself out of recycled materials and decorations, broken decorations that he's restored. And we caught up with 19 year old Andrew Reid earlier as he was getting ready for tonight's Light Show. This year, I actually made these 16 ft snowflakes out of pallet wood that I found recycled from the garbage. This is Andrew Reid's Island of Misfit decorations. The 19 year old says he goes around collecting broken holiday decor that people throw away and spends all year restoring them for his display. Andrew says he's been doing this light show at his East Northport home for four years now. But as this is the biggest display yet, he says he's collecting donations for the Ronald mcdonald House so far. He says he's collected $400 in the last two nights. It's been open. I love to help people out. I'm going to school to be a paramedic. So I wanna help people out as much as I can. You know. So, and I like to make people happy. So everyone knows that. So I was like, why not do a display and raise money for kids with cancer as well? The display is open to the public every night from 530 to 9 o'clock here in East Northport. Weather permitting. And Andrew says if you have any broken decorations, you don't want anymore, come drop them off and he'll add them to his collection. Tama. Wow. What a sight Logan. Thank you for that report. Inspired by another display he says he saw growing up the house is benefiting Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital. Ciso said he picked that charity to ensure all kids can have a very happy holiday. I think they do a lot of great work. They support families who have kids who unfortunately have cancer and I hate to see kids suffering. So I think it's a good cause to donate to and for a list of holiday homes across Long Island. Tommy and Tracy Nieves, they have been lighting up the neighborhood for 7 years now, starting with just 2 candy canes and then growing to this incredible spectacle here. This year they are using the house to raise money for Saint Jude's Children's Hospital. It's an amazing organization, as everyone knows they've been doing this for over 60 years, helping children and their families fight cancer and other illnesses. Season of giving is in full swing, especially for one holiday like display in Kings Park. Yeah, we met up with the man behind the Colby Christmas House to learn all about the special cause that he's raising money for this holiday season. Every year it gets a little bigger and bigger. I add a couple of things here and there for more than a decade. John esposito lights up the King's Park community with his dazzling holiday like display. But this year the Christmas House on Colby Drive is doing something extra magical, raising money for a neighbor in need. I'm very Christmas driven my patients that I work with. Call me Christy Clause. It's just my time of the year. I love bringing joy to others. Christy Garrett was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2022. Despite no family history of the disease, they picked it up during routine blood work. So I always tell everybody make sure you follow up with your doctor's appointment over the summer. Christie's liver started to fail, forcing her to start chemo. You never think it would be you because I'm generally a healthy person back in September. Christy's dad told John about her situation and being in the season of giving after talking to my wife, we knew right away. We we definitely got to help her the espositos now have a QR code and donation box shining a light to help Christie on her darkest days when I heard they were doing this for me. It definitely made me cry and it made me feel less alone in this journey any little bit helps. Um you know, the more the better, obviously, but any little bit helps. And we, we appreciate all donations in Kings Park, Jen Selig News 12 Long Island. And you can catch that display at eight Colby Drive now through Christmas Eve and the lights come on every night at 5 p.m.

Nick Matsis and his family have decorated the house for 5 years since they started. The family has been raising money for the Make A Wish Foundation, an organization they also support in October with their Halloween display. I really appreciate the fact that they're able to make these kids' wishes come true. It's just a very noble cause. So, uh, I don't mind contributing to something like that. John Rubino has been lighting up the neighborhood for the past four years now. The house is benefiting the Tyler James A Bez Foundation. A charity started by his neighbor Jessica Nigro. She started that organization after her son was declared brain dead from what's called archer venous malformation or A VM. What it is is a tangle of arteries and veins and sometimes it ruptures. This house benefits the memorial Sloan Kettering cancer center who Frank says helped him in his battle against lung cancer. I've been uh in remission for almost eight years now. Going online. They don't do it for, for, for the money, they do it because they love people and they, and they wanna see survivors and I'm one of them. Oh, that is great. The house will be hosting a fundraising event Saturday from 5 to 8.

Peter Tomasello has been creating this gingerbread house since 2015. The house raises money for the Nassau Suffolk Autism Society. Tomasello partnered with that organization to help his friend who has a son with autism in the aftermath of her daughter's passing. Her brother, who was 2 years older, um, was autistic, and when she passed away, he had a hard time understanding what happened. So we actually decided to make a donation box for the Autism Society. The Curdo family started that display 14 years ago after their son was born with a heart defect, the Curdo decided to raise money for mended little hearts of Long Island. The organization works to inspire hope and ensure kids suffering from heart defects. Have a very happy holiday. But for this display, we are focusing more on a display that you may not see from the road. This is what the inside of the Smithtown Senior Center looks like. E every year the center teams up with a local charity all to help those in need. During the holiday season. This year, they are helping out the Angels of Kings Park. They help people in the area that are homeless. People that have lost their jobs need food. The center has done the uh donations for the Children to buy uh presents so that everybody has something for the holidays. That's a great job there. You. How long Islanders are decking the halls this holiday for a good cause. And one Suffolk family is raising money for several charities through several projects. News Twelve's Gen Z like made a stop at all three houses, Anthony and loves to spread holiday cheer, but he's not the only one in his family. We're all crazy. Anthony's dad kicked off the family tradition back in 1987. Since then, Wayne Imperate has decked out his house on West Third Street in West Islip each holiday season. It's a great feeling and it's a great thing to do and just as we get to spend time together and do it, you know, it's a lot of work, but we get it done. Anthony joined in the annual festivities eight years ago turning his house on Pace Drive South and West Islip into a magical holiday, like display the holiday season to us. It's about kids and I think, you know, kids that are part of make a wish are unfortunately just a little less fortunate. The spread a bright message of hope, raising money for the make a wish foundation and it does not stop there. Anthony's cousin DJ Russo also lights up his house on ST Clair Street in Deer Park. He does it in memory of his dad. I'm collecting for the Gary Richard and Family stroke and brain as center at Good Samaritan University Hospital. You know, my dad passed from a brain a so I really want to help people, uh, you know, who, who are suffering with similar issues, you know, and, and help them get treatment, helping those in need is a tradition that leaves memories for the family to cherish. They look at, at my house, they look at my cousin's house and uncle's house. It brings us just so much joy in Deer Park. Jen Selig News 12 Long Island.
