Cordello Avenue Elementary School students met with Superintendent Dr. Sharon Dungee Wednesday to discuss what they think should be improved within their school.
The students are members of the student council.
"Every voice should speak loud and proud because everyone matters, and they should speak up for the things that they want and what to change," said Annabely Paz.
Dr. Dungee said she thinks it’s important to hear what students have to say.
"I don't think we listen enough," she said.
She said these roundtables with students have made a difference because the kids now know they're being heard.
Each school in the Central Islip School District has a student council and the superintendent meets with each group several times a year.
The students range in age from kindergarten through high school.
