A quiet night in Schuylerville was disrupted by the sound of a car’s engine as home security footage Monday night captured it spinning donut after donut at the intersection of Waterbury and Hollywood avenues.
The video shows a time stamp of just after 8:45 p.m.
“It was crazy," resident Lisa Soli described it. "He just spun around like a lunatic, and there was so much smoke.”
Video shows the car doing tight, continuous circles and the friction of the tires sent clouds of dust and smoke around the block.
“Actually, when he was flying up the block, you can see there’s a person getting into a car," Soli said. "They could have got killed because he just flew by."
A News 12 crew captured on camera the tire tracks that remained in the intersection on Tuesday. Neighbors said they're fed up, and are begging for something to be done about it.
“They should put some speed bumps over here so they could stop them," resident Daniel Rivera said. "Or cameras, something to hold them down from doing this.”
There is also a nearby elementary school down the road from the intersection, which adds to the concern of street safety for pedestrians, especially children. “During morning and 2:30 [p.m.], this is full of kids here," Schuylerville resident Lovella Payla said, "and it's dangerous.”
"Everybody's scared to walk around by themselves," Rivera added. News 12 reached out to the police department for any additional information but had not heard back as of Tuesday evening.
