A Hyde Park man is facing charges after a cashier was stabbed during an altercation at a gas station, police said.

The incident happened Wednesday morning at the Sunoco gas station on Albany Post Road. Police said a verbal and physical altercation involving tobacco rolling papers escalated, and a cashier was stabbed.

The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, according to police.

Several hours later, 27-year-old Sydney Height was arrested. Police said he faces charges including assault and robbery.

Height, a Hyde Park resident, is being held in the Dutchess County Jail.

The injured cashier is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
