Two people are recovering after a car crash sent one car barreling through a neighborhood and into a house in Hauppauge.
According to the Smithtown Fire Department, numerous people made 911 calls to report a crash near the intersection of Route 347 and Plaisted Avenue, around 7 p.m. yesterday.
First responders found the car crashed into 30 Adrienne Ln., which is a block south of where the initial collision happened.
The car rear-ended another car in front of it and continued driving about a block down Plaisted, narrowly missing a home before passing through two fences and a shed, then finally crashing into a second home, Smithtown fire officials said.
The home sustained significant structural damage and the electrical service was torn off the home. First responders also had to mitigate a gasoline leak from the damaged shed, officials said.
No one inside the home was hurt, according to the fire department.
The driver and passenger in the car that crashed were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Suffolk County police, Smithtown Public Safety, the town Fire Marshal's office and the Building Department continue to investigate.
