LeAnne Tuthill, of Manorville, was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 35 years old.
She said that a lot of people think that they’re young and it won’t happen to them, but “that’s not the case.”
A new report from the American Cancer Society backs that up.
Dr. Richard Barakat, of the Northwell Health Cancer Institute, said the report highlighted that in younger women, data showed an increase in certain cancers, including breast cancer.
He reminds people to keep up with screenings and pay attention to behavioral factors.
The report also found that deaths from cancer are down.
