There weren't many residents out and about on Friday near the site of a massive fire on Bushwick Avenue - but those who were there, were all wearing masks.
Lateef Edwards lives on the block and says he is worried about the asbestos and chemicals released in the air from the fire.
“I can't take the smoke, you know, respiratory things" he explains.
Edwards wore a mask Friday and said he will continue to wear one. He said he is also concerned about opening up the windows in his apartment this summer to let in air. He says the "asbestos and the smoke smell of smut in the air and everything" is worrisome.
Edwards and his wife are keeping their windows closed. His concerns also stretch to utilizing his window unit air conditioner now that the temperatures have warmed up because the air that circulates comes from outside.
