There is really lovely weather again today with sunny but hotter temperatures in the upper 80s. It'll be just shy of 90 today. If we hit 90, it might be a heat wave as the next few days are expected to get to 90 as well. Tonight's sky is clear and the air is mild with lows in the lower 60s. A coronal mass ejection from the sun occurred yesterday which is sending a plume of magnetic field energy toward Earth. This will push the aurora borealis southward, which increases the chance for it to be seen from our area. The Space Weather Prediction Center from NOAA issued a G3-Storm Watch, which means that there can be some minor/limited disruptions to technology that uses satellites like GPS, and that aurora can be seen as low as 50-degrees in latitude. The 50th parallel is essentially the USA and Canadian border. If this storm arrives stronger than modeled, then the chance for aurora can increase more for our area. This type of aurora may only be seen through cameras and not easily or at all with the naked eye. It remains hot tomorrow with temperatures in the lower-90s, and the mid-90s is expected for Saturday. A spot thunderstorm is possible on Saturday night after 7PM. Sunday's weather trends unsettled/unstable with sun and clouds that produce rouge thunderstorms throughout the day.
