A Brownsville woman was killed in a hit-and-run in Manhattan over the weekend, police say.
On Sunday, police responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Washington Place and 6th Avenue just before 5 a.m.
Investigators say a driver attempted to merge from the parking lane on the far left side of 6th Avenue into northbound traffic as Destiny Murrell grabbed and held onto the driver side door.
They say as the vehicle entered the intersection at Washington Place, the 22-year-old fell from the vehicle and was run over by the left side rear wheel of the vehicle.
Murrell sustained severe trauma to her head and torso and was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where she later died.
Police say the operator of the vehicle did not remain on scene.
