The Brooklyn Skate Garden project was approved by Community Board 8 during a vote Thursday night.

The $11 million project will turn a nearly 20k square foot area of Mount Prospect Park into a skate park, combining skating elements into a landscaped public space.

A spokesperson for The Skatepark Project says that it is now in the procurement phase before construction begins.

The Brooklyn Skate Garden is one of four skate parks planned across the five boroughs.
