Brooklyn man dies weeks after brutal robbery inside Crown Heights deli; father-son duo charged with murder, sources say
A 60-year-old man from Brooklyn succumbed to his injuries weeks after he was brutally robbed and beaten inside a deli in Crown Heights. Police sources say a father-son duo is charged with murder.
The Johnsons, both named Devon, are accused of punching and kicking Derrick Watson in the face inside 1380 Eastern Parkway around 12:30 a.m. on April 22. Authorities say they then took Watson's wallet and ran away.
EMS rushed Watson to One Brooklyn Health–Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where he fought for his life for nearly two weeks.
Authorities say the duo, 18 and 47-years old, both live just steps from the deli where they allegedly carried out the attack.
Police sources previously told News 12 that one of the attackers and the victim know each other because they have children by the same woman.
Both Johnsons face additional charges, including manslaughter and robbery.
