The NYPD says a 58-year-old construction worker was killed Tuesday afternoon after a parapet wall collapsed on him at a garage in Cypress Hills.
The Department of Buildings said inspectors were called to 224 Highland Blvd. after initial reports of a collapse.
The DOB determined the wall fell from a one-story garage at 113 Sunnyside Ave., which shares a lot with the six-story building on Highland.
Officials said the worker, who was on the roof of the garage at the time, suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital.
DOB inspectors issued a full stop work order for all construction and repair activities at 113 Sunnyside Ave., along with a partial vacate order for the garage roof in the affected area.
Inspectors also cited the property owner for failing to maintain the structure.
Neighbors described the incident as a freak accident, while shaken co-workers said they rushed to free the man after he was pinned by the brick wall.
