The Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department is offering tips to keep Connecticut residents safe from downed power lines following Thursday’s severe storm.
The fire company says to call 911 immediately and stay at least 35 feet away if you encounter a downed line and to remember the short phrase “look up, stay back, stay alive.”
Officials are also advising residents to warn neighbors or anyone nearby of downed lines.
If you are in a car, stay inside of it and not touch any metal while waiting for emergency services and personnel.
