Residents in The Bronx can expect a taste of winter today, with feel-like temperatures in the 30s.
According to NYC Office of Emergency Management, there is a code blue in effect until 8 a.m. Tuesday. If you see someone in need of help and shelter on the street, you can call 311 and they will come and pick them up.
You can also call 311 if there is no heat or hot water in your building. In New York City, if the temperature outside is below 55 degrees, your landlord should set your heat to 68 degrees from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
It's also important to not only be prepared when you're leaving the house and layering up, but if you're experiencing symptoms of hypothermia, get to the hospital immediately. Those signs are confusion, slowed or slurred speech, intense shivering and more.
