Bronx Week wrapped up Sunday with a parade, concert and food festival celebrating the borough’s culture after more than two weeks of events across the Bronx.
The parade traveled along Mosholu Parkway, where residents gathered with music, dancing and marching groups to close out this year’s Bronx Week festivities. A live DJ and performances continued at the end of the parade route following the march.
Organizers nearly canceled this year’s celebration, but events moved forward under the theme “The Bronx Leads.”
Over the past two weeks, Bronx Week featured events including Salsa in the Streets, a soapbox derby, running events and the Bronx Night Market.
“The Bronx leads the system because we are,” said Desiree of the 40 Plus Double Dutch Club, which participated in Sunday’s parade. “We lead in everything — hip-hop. We are a diverse group. We have people from all over. We are a melting pot and we just lead.”
The parade concluded with a concert and food festival to officially close out Bronx Week celebrations.
