A new art exhibit in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx is encouraging visitors to slow down and reflect on their past.
"Remember," created by local artist Ebony Bolt, is her first solo exhibition. It features sketches inspired by people she observed on the subway, combined with digital designs and personal childhood photos.
Bolt says her work is meant to spark connection and curiosity. Some pieces include hidden symbolism, encouraging viewers to look more closely and discover new details.
The exhibit also features interactive elements, including a crossword puzzle with answers hidden throughout the artwork. On a wall covered with her childhood photos, there are positive affirmations that visitors are encouraged to share with one another.
The exhibit is at the Casita Maria Center for Arts and Education, a longtime Bronx institution that offers free arts programming and focuses on uplifting local, emerging artists.
Ebony Bolt will also have artwork for sale at the exhibit.
People can visit "Remember" for free starting April 17 through August 14.
