The Bronx District Attorney's Office says a Bronx teen was arraigned after he was accused of raping a 17-year-old girl inside Ferry Point Park.
James Whiskey, 18, allegedly threatened the girl's life during the June 14 attack, stating, "Help me or you're dead." He faces a slew of charges, including multiple counts of rape and sexual abuse.
Prosecutors say the assault unfolded around 10 p.m. near Emerson and Harding avenues. Whiskey allegedly pulled the girl by her arms into the parking lot, where he restrained and assaulted her after she refused to have sex with him.
The 17-year-old ran away after the attack and went to the hospital. She is expected to recover physically, according to police.
The NYPD released a photo of Whiskey 10 days after the attack. He was arrested and arraigned on Thursday.
According to court documents, Whiskey told officers that he first saw the girl on the train with her friends and Whiskey's friend approached one of the girls.
"He got her details, like number or IG. He was trying to set up a two-man. Like a double-date, where he comes, I come," Whiskey stated during an interview.
Whiskey told police that he and his friend met the girls at the park, where he convinced the 17-year-old to have sex with him.
"I was convincing her, like your friend’s doing that..." he told officers.
According to court documents, Whiskey claimed he recorded the act on the victim's phone.
Whiskey also faces a sexual misconduct charge. He is due back in court on July 30.
