Some Bronx students are hoping to make their sidewalks cleaner with their own creation - the Poop Project Trash Can.

News 12's Brittany Cadet spoke with the STEM students from the Renaissance Youth Center aiming to kick the persistent issue of dog poop to the curb.

Treyonna Sullivan Bunche has been attending the Renaissance Youth Center for three years and says the dog waste outside was a community issue she wanted to take on head first.

"When it comes to the South Bronx, we have trash cans everywhere and they don't get used. It’s something that people just look at and walk away," she says.

The trash can has an entire computerized program inside that logs the amount of poop put in the can. This was all created collectively with the students at the youth center.
