E-scooters are scattered across the East Bronx, and people who use them say it's an easy way to get around without getting on a crowded bus.
Most Bronx residents do not have a car, according to data.
Data USA says in 2022, the average car per household in the borough was zero. So, e-scooters, like Lime, Veo and Bird can be useful to residents.
Riders say they believe the price of e-scooters are fair - starting at $1 to unlock -with less than 50 cents per additional minute.
NYCHA residents or those who receive SNAP benefits can use the scooters at any hour of the day at a discounted rate.
News 12 discovered that there are limits to where the e-scooters can be driven.
They are currently only available in the eastern part of the Bronx and will shut down if driven through what they are "red zone" areas.
