A Bridgeton teen has been charged with murder in the fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old earlier this week.
Kavon Underwood-Palmer, 19, was charged in connection with the June 30 killing of a 17-year-old identified as J.B., according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae.
Police responded around 3:05 p.m. to the Ivy Square Apartments on Cottage Avenue for a report of a stabbing.
Officers and emergency personnel found J.B. in a parking lot suffering from a stab wound.
The victim later died from his injuries.
Underwood-Palmer was charged following an investigation by the Bridgeton Police Department and Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office.
Prosecutors allege Underwood-Palmer brandished a knife, approached J.B. and stabbed him once.
He is charged with murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and tampering with physical evidence.
Underwood-Palmer remains in custody.
Prosecutors said they will seek pretrial detention.
The investigation remains ongoing.
