The summer heat didn't stop revelers from filling the streets of Bridgeport Sunday as marching bands from across the region filled the air with the pride and pulse of Puerto Rico.
It was the annual Puerto Rican Day Parade of Fairfield County -- founded in 1993 to celebrate Puerto Rican culture, heritage and contributions.
State Representative Antonio Felipe beamed with pride as he marched down Park Avenue.
"Everything's amazing about Puerto Rico in my eyes, being a proud Puerto Rican from here in Bridgeport -- but I think it's the culture that we bring everywhere we go, especially places like Bridgeport and the state of Connecticut, that makes this event magic every single year," Felipe said.
