Students and parents in Cesar Batalla School said the thermostats inside the school reached 90 degrees on Wednesday.
An eighth grader at the school told News 12, “It’s terrible.” She also said she felt lightheaded and had trouble focusing in class because of the heat.
Students were released early Tuesday because of high temperatures inside the school.
The Office of the Superintendent of Bridgeport Public Schools provided the following statement.
"Bridgeport Public Schools is aware of concerns regarding the extreme heat conditions in several school buildings. The district continues to closely monitor daily weather conditions while working with school leaders to utilize cooler spaces, adjust classroom locations when appropriate, and support the comfort and well-being of students and staff throughout the remainder of the school year."
Officials also said no other school districts had canceled school because of the heat.
