Police say a Bridgeport man is in critical condition after being shot in the head.
The shooting happened 11:30 p.m. Monday at the PT Barnum Housing Complex near Building 20.
Footage captured shows a large crime scene, with a big crowd and evidence scattered in the street.
Investigators say they found the 25-year-old man shot in the head near the building.
The shooting comes after an announcement by the U.S. Surgeon General declaring gun violence a public health crisis for the first time.
Former Bridgeport Police Officer Steve Nelson says he welcomes that designation, pointing to a shooting that touched a young person in his life.
"He was shot five times and he's in a wheelchair now, probably for the rest of his life; so, is it a health problem? Yes, it is because he now needs special attention just to survive," said Nelson.
Anyone with information is urged to call Detective John Knapp at 203-581-5251, or the Bridgeport Police Tips Line at 203-576-TIPS.
