A Bridgeport man was seriously injured Friday night after he fell off a scooter and struck his head, police say.

It happened around 11:35 p.m. at the intersection of Broad Street and Railroad Avenue.

Police say the 34-year-old man was a passenger on the scooter.

The driver of the scooter lost control on wet pavement and crashed near the intersection.

Police say although both fell onto the ground, the driver was able to get back on the scooter and drove away, leaving the man lying in the road.

When officers arrived, they found the man had serious head injuries.

He was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.
