Bridgeport Hospital hosted a community baby shower on Saturday to give families maternity resources to prepare for their new babies.

The event distributed diaper donations and giveaways to families in need.

Bridgeport Hospital Nurse Carla Caulfield said the extra items make a big difference in helping parents navigate the newborn stage.

"We do work with a lot of families who don't have a lot of money to purchase the things they need for their babies and this gives us the opportunity to give them all that they need," she explained.

The event also provided educational resources on childbirth, pediatric services and postpartum care.
