Firefighters responded to a partial wall collapse at 1668 West 6th St. in Gravesend, after bricks were reported falling from the roof around midnight.
Part of a short wall along the edge of the roof had collapsed and fallen onto the roof surface, according to the Department of Buildings, damaging what appeared to be a Verizon antenna.
No injuries were reported, according to the FDNY. Tenants from one apartment were temporarily evacuated.
Several residents said they were unaware that anything had happened until firefighters arrived at the scene.
“I only heard a little bit,” one tenant said.
Inspectors with the DOB issued a violation to the property owner for failing to maintain the structure.
The owner has been directed to hire a professional engineer to evaluate the building’s stability and submit a report to the Department of Buildings.
City officials have also required the installation of a sidewalk shed to protect pedestrians.
